For some reason, at around this time each year, my schedule picks up with an ungodly amount of work, meetings, and scheduling conflicts-things no one wants to deal with at the start of the week on a Monday morning. The only thing that helps to keep my head up this year is the promise of spring break, the silver lining on a cloudy day if you will. Spring break is a gift; it is the promise of sunshine, warmth and relaxation. For those of us who may be hoping for a tamer break, I’ve got three hidden gem vacation ideas for you that will help to give us that break we most definitely need.
Take a Road Trip
While some may find the open road or a long car drive boring, for those with wanderlust souls, a road trip could bring ultimate freedom. Grab a few friends, pack light, and pick a destination, or maybe don’t pick one at all! In just a few days, you can see multiple cities and stop at hidden gem locations on the way. For those of us living in the South East, I would recommend stopping in Asheville, NC, Charleston, SC, New Orleans, LA, or Pensacola, FL.
Book a Cruise
Imagine the open water, warm temperatures and sunny skies. That’s what my spring break will look like this year and what yours will look like, too, if you book a cruise. There are so many different cruise liners offering amazing locations at low prices around this time of year. Unless you get sea sick, I strongly suggest going on one at some point in your life. Known for their relaxing atmosphere and stress-free environments, cruises allow you to have fun in the sun both at land and sea, seeing multiple different locations throughout your trip. My personal favorite at this time of year is the eastern Caribbean, and I’m sure spots are filling up quick, so make sure you book soon!
If you’re a current university student or just moved to another city for a job, its always important to remember that our girl Dorothy was right when she said it: there’s no place like home. Going home for spring break can give you much needed time spent with your family, home cooked meals, and, hopefully, an environment filled with happiness and love, and nothing could be better than that.
