What word defines being a twenty-something?
If you could let other twenty-somethings in on a secret what would it be?
Don’t fret if you’re in between jobs or decide to pull a 360 and drop out of med school to pursue a career in fashion. Your twenties are the best time to discover your true self and follow your passions.
Where did the inspiration for IWEARTHEHEADRESS come from?
I’ve always loved fashion and travelled throughout Europe and Africa – I was inspired by the fashion forwardness of the women in France and by the beautiful textiles worn by the women in Tanzania.

What was the most important lesson you learned when launching your business?
To take everything in stride whether it’s a set back or a great opportunity and continue to develop my brand every single day.
If we looked in your purse right now, what would we see?
Fellow Earthling Sunnies, Burts Bees Chapstick, my iPad, baby toys, and a bamboo knit turban!
How do you style an outfit to go with your turbans? Is there a specific one you recommend to start with?
One of my favourite things about turbans and headwraps is that they’re then perfect finish for any outfit! I offer a wide range of styles – bamboo knit turbans to go with your yoga gear, headwraps made of vintage sari’s to wear with distressed denim and a blouse, or a chain headpiece or flower crown to throw on with a summer dress and ankle boots. The most purchased item from my online store is the stone town grey turban – a basic staple that’s easy to incorporate into any outfit , any season.

What is your morning routine?
My son Isaac is my alarm clock so we start the day around 6 AM. I get him fed, bathed and changed and then I do the same for myself! I just add a shot of espresso to go with my oatmeal!
If you could choose one celebrity to wear your headdress, who would it be and why?
If I could put an Iweartheheadress turban onto any celebrities head it would have to be Kourtney Kardashian – solely because she is the turban queen. I’ve seen her wearing them more often than not and I love how she looks in them.
What was your dream job growing up and how has your vision changed?
Growing up I wanted to be a fashion designer in Paris, or to live in the middle of Africa teaching children English. Both were dreams and not quite realistic but I’m proud I was able to accomplish both – minus designing in Paris ha!
What is your guilty pleasure?
I love good food, adore it really…so my guilty pleasure is a 3 course meal that starts with escargot, has a little lobster and ends with some creme brûlée. A glass of wine is the cherry on top!
