It’s cuffing season and you’ve completed the first step – finding yourself a bae to canoodle and cuff with for the foreseeable future, congratulations!
All of these wonderful things are coming your way:
- Sexy time
- Hand holding
One other thing? Sharing a bed.

Sharing a bed with a new partner is both the best and the worst.
It’s so satisfying to roll over and cuddle up to them in the night. To have them pulling you in for forehead kisses and throwing their arms around you when you wake up in the morning… not to mention the morning sex.
However, sharing a bed with someone you aren’t used to can be a huge challenge, as I’m sure you know. It’s an unfamiliar body next to you, which automatically puts you on edge – at least it does for me. There’s something about it that just feels unfamiliar, which can lead to an inability to sleep. There’s also the temperature challenge – what the hell do you do when your partner turns into an inferno in their sleep, yet still wants to be covered in blankets? What about if they steal the covers? It’s a mess.
So, what do you need to do to get the best sleep with bae?
- Invest in a fan. My fan was the best purchase I’ve ever made, no exaggeration. I tend to run hot and having someone else under the covers only increases the heat level. Your fan is your new best friend and the white noise doesn’t hurt either.
- Keep blankets on deck.… That way if your fan makes your bed partner cold they won’t freeze to death.
- Tell them your cuddle style. There’s always that weird stage where everyone pretends that they want to be 100% entangled while sleeping.. but the reality is that most of the time people don’t actually want that. Allow yourself enough space so that you’re both comfortable.
Now, go forth and enjoy your slumber – clothing optional.
