Easter is coming up this weekend, and whether or not you’re home with your family, you can always make it feel like a holiday with the right amount of candy. I’m sure you’ve seen Target and all the grocery stores lining their walls with sweet treats, just waiting to give young children cavities and give you a feeling of nostalgia for eating one too many Nerds’ Ropes. Here’s the only list you’ll ever need of the delicious Easter candy you should treat yo’ self with this weekend.
1. Reese’s Peanut Butter Egg
If you can only eat one kind of candy for the rest of your life, may I suggest the amazing Reese’s Peanut Butter Egg? Perhaps I love this because it’s larger than the average peanut butter cup, or maybe it’s the classic combination of chocolate and peanut butter. Whatever the reason, no one is going to judge you for having a few, or ten, of these.
An Easter classic, these sassy little marshmallows are almost too sweet, but so squishy and delish. Make sure you eat them all pretty soon after you open the package – nothing’s worse than taking a bite of a hard/stale peep. They come in chick and bunny forms and all kinds of colors, you can create your own peep village and destroy the townspeople by eating their friends and neighbors, or for added aggression, put them in the microwave and watch them expand.
3. Graeter’s Chocolate Bunny
If you want to class it up this Easter and experience what is 100% without a doubt the best chocolate made in America, go for Graeter’s. My grandma has been sending me a chocolate bunny from there ever since I can remember, and it’s my favorite thing in the world. If you’d rather have ice cream – just go to any Ralphs or Albertson’s and you can nom to your hearts content. Check out their website to find the location closest to you!
4. Cadbury Crème Eggs
Keeping it classy, we’re continuing on down the list with the Cadbury Crème Egg. Now maybe we just love this treat because it’s imported from the UK, but I have a feeling it also has to do with the delicious chocolate shell and sweet fondant inside. How fancy do you always feel unwrapping this foil and nibbling on this English treat?
Often underrated, but just as nom-tastic, are Jellybeans. Not only can you eat a ton of these without even blinking, but they are also pretty much pure sugar (along with everything else on this list), which means they deserve a mention. My brother is allergic to chocolate so there’s always a lot of Easter Jellybeans in my house.
How often do you really get the chance to feel like a little kid again these days? If you aren’t home for the holiday, have a mini Easter Egg hunt with your friends, fill some plastic eggs up with candy and find them around your tiny apartment. No one is saying you can’t have breakfast food and mimosas after your search, but you’re never too old for some candy.
