You are more than an experience. More than leftover marks on skin. More than creeping nightmares and more than PTSD dreams.
You have the ability to create connection. To let your guard down. To love.
You are worthy. Worthy of love. Worthy of being cherished. Most importantly you are worthy of being loved and cherished by yourself. You are not your own enemy because of what happened – you did everything you had to do to survive that shit.
You will have dark days. You will sit in the bath tub with hot water running over your body. You will cry. You will feel despair. You will feel disconnected from your body. Don’t give up.
You will have sunny, beautiful days. You will learn how to treasure yourself again. You will learn to connect, even when it’s scary. You will experience joy, trust and love. You will, I promise.
You have the ability to tell your story. To let others know that they are not alone. To create a community for yourself, for your friends, for those who need this letter just as much as you do.
You have the ability to tell partners about the invisible scars that you bear. To be unafraid and unashamed. To recognize this part of your story, but to decide that it does not own you, control you or dominate your life.
You are a warrior. You are beautiful. You are seen. You are heard. You are loved.
You are a survivor.
Love, another one.
