Fall is in full swing. The leaves are falling, the air is crisp, pumpkins are plentiful and today I got caught in an unexpected torrential downpour (thanks Portland). This is my favorite season of the year, there is something about bundling up in sweaters and scarves, sipping coffee from my travel mug on the walk to work, chowing down on all of the hot food favorites, and feeling the temperature drop that just puts a smile on my face.
This fall season I am crushing on 5 must have items, I’ll let you in on the obsessions:
1. The Bainbridge Plaid Flannel
I have to admit I was a little taken aback by that whole Madewell story that hit Buzzfeed recently, but that doesn’t stop me from loving their flannel. The color is classic, you can wear it with leggings or jeans, tuck the front or leave it loose. It is easy, warm, and layers well with all of your other winter pieces- what’s better than that?
2. Nest Pumpkin Chai Candle
Holy crap, I promise you there is not a scent more pleasing anywhere. The Pumpkin Chai candle is the definition of fall. Pumpkin, Chai, a hint of freshness – it fills your home immediately and makes you want to curl up and just breathe. I have always been a candle junkie, and now I have officially found the perfect scent. If you see me in a store you may want to push me out of the way, because I’m buying every single one in stock (and then eating plain bread for a month…. worth it).
3. The Bora Bora Turbeanie
I know, I know, I need to check myself before I wreck my wallet buying every single thing from IWearTheHeadress, but I just can’t & won’t stop. It’s not a beanie, it’s not a turban – it’s a turbeanie and it’s really stinking cute. What I love about the Bora Bora is that it is incredibly warm and is by far the cutest headwear I have. It pairs will all of my darker fall and winter clothes perfectly and doesn’t even give me hat hair.
4. Sperry Duck Boots
Yes, I have a pair of Hunter boots, and yes they are great. But these are better. Your feet are warm, cushioned, dry and best of all you can actually say you are wearing duck boots – which just makes me giggle. For my fellow residents of Portlandia, or any other rainy place, invest in these. You will not regret it.
Soups galore! During the colder months there are few things that I enjoy for dinner more than a hot soup. You haven’t had a good tomato soup until you have home made one – trust me. Roast some tomatoes and get ready to do some blending. Whip up a grilled cheese to go with it and chow down.
