If you’re like me, most of your baking is done out of a box, not from scratch – hey not all of us can be Martha Stewart- and you know what? That’s not a bad thing! So in the spirit of Halloween I wanted to share four easy, straight forward, and time friendly treats to make this month – lazy bakers unite (and snack)!
1. Pumpkin Bread
I grabbed this box off the end of the aisle display at Target. It’s incredibly easy. All you need to buy are eggs. It requires four eggs, some water and some vegetable oil. Instructions are on the back of the box and this baby makes two loaves of delicious pumpkin bread.
If you want to get fancy, grab some pumpkin spice chips and sprinkle them in the batter before pouring in the bread pan to cook.
2. Halloween Sugar Cookies
These may come in Pumpkin, Ghost or Spooky Cat designs, depending on Pillsbury’s sense of design this year. All I know is, it’s super easy to just place the already cut out cookies on a tray and bake for eight minutes. Short and oh so sweet.
3. Caramel Apples
All you need are apples, a package of caramels and a tiny bit of milk. Plus sprinkles or chocolate sauce or whatever else you want to add to the apples. Three step instructions from allrecipes.com are below:
- Remove the stem from each apple and press a craft stick into the top. Butter a baking sheet.
- Place caramels and milk in a microwave safe bowl, and microwave 2 minutes, stirring once. Allow to cool briefly.
- Roll each apple quickly in caramel sauce until well coated. Place on prepared sheet to set.
It’s really as simple as one, two, three!
When all else fails, just grab a bag of assorted candy at the store. Sure, it’s not good for you, but these sweet treats are the perfect way to brighten up your day! We all know the Reese’s Cups are the best and you deserve them!
