Its starting. The constant talk about Valentine’s Day plans. You know, the debates on what your best friend should buy for her boyfriend this year and the awaited appearances of the candy and teddy bear displays in seemingly every store you walk in. We’ve all been there. You know, we’ve all been the single friend who perhaps has been left out on V-Day festivities because of her single status. But if this year you’re fearing that friend may be you, don’t let your it stop you from enjoying this year’s holiday!
Yes, being single is sometimes annoying, sometimes frustrating and sometimes lonely. But being single is also sometimes wonderful and insanely fun. It gives you the opportunity to get to know new people who walk into your life and even old ones. It allows you to pursue things you want, explore and see things you want to see without anyone holding you back. In a way, it gives you a sort of freedom.
Don’t dwell on being upset about your single status this year, but think of all that its given you. Since you’ve had some small amount of time to reflect on yourself, something everyone needs at some point or another, when one day, a wonderful guy walks into your life, you are going to be incredibly confident in yourself and what you would hope to get out of life and of your relationship. Regardless of gender, I think both men and women find that an attractive quality.
Valentine’s Day is about love. Loving your boyfriend, your friends, and your family. Regardless of your relationship status, it is a day to appreciate all the love in your life. And as to what I’ll be doing this upcoming holiday? Well, I’m currently not seeing anyone, so this single girl is going to spread some serious love. And yes, I still expect to receive chocolate.
