Holiday decorating can really drain your pockets, and we feel your pain. You want to get into the spirit and beautify your house, but without breaking the bank. That’s why we wanted to share our two favorite DIY Christmas decorations for you – to make your holidays just as special while keeping your bank account in the green. Happy holidays and happy decorating!
1) Winne-the-Pooh Style Christmas Tree
This craft is super cute and simple! All you need is varying sizes of light weight woods, tacks/command hooks, velcro strips, and lights. After adhering the velcro strips to the wood, place them on the wall around 6-8 inches apart from each other. Insert the tacks into the wood, and let your ornaments dangle from them. Lastly, string your lights across and viola! A super cheap and unique Christmas tree. Best part about it? No needles to pick up later.
2) Frosted Branches
We first came across this cute decor idea on Momtastic, and immediately knew that we had to take it for a spin. Glitter? We’re in.
What you’ll need is silver metallic spray paint, Colorfill accents, glue and glitter. Begin by finding the right branches. Once you’ve done this, wipe them down once to remove dirt and dust. Once dried, spray paint with your metallic paint and let it dry. From here, you can dose it in glue and coat with glitter. Remember to add the Colorfill accents, they really made it look extra special. You just apply with glue. You can find these little gems at Michael’s.
At this point, your branches should look like this:
You can even take your glue (elmer’s is fine!) and coat some portions of the branches to look like ice. Easy, simple and cheap but will still leave you feeling in the holiday spirit.
