Pumpkin spiced everything, apple pies, Hocus Pocus on repeat… My September/October Favorites… Just a few things you don’t want to be missing out on this season. Can you believe it is already November and fall is in full swing?! I could go on and on getting wrapped up in how much bitches love fall but I realllly want to tell you about my favorites these past two months!
For starters, I must admit… when I go into one of my favorite stores (in this circumstance it happened to be Lush Cosmetics) I cannot control myself from buying everything and anything that catches my eye. Therefore, there are quite a few Lush products in these favorites… but that’s not a bad thing, right?
What could be a bad thing is picking products based on their names? Nah… nothing can be bad when it comes to shopping… and besides, I ended up with this –
I had been trying to find the perfect ‘purple shampoo’ to tone down the brassiness blonde hair tends to get after a while. It promises to keep blonde hair bright and works just as well for brunettes (as I’ve learned since darkening my roots for fall… #basicbitchprobz). I’m not going to go ranting about how good it smells because, ehh… its not my favorite, but I don’t hate it. It has definitely worked wonders on my hair.
HINT: they sell a 3.3 oz. size for $9.95 – perfect to try and fall in love!
Next up, the real reason I am obsessed with going into Lush… SKINCARE!
I have always been in love with their face masks, so when the woman suggested trying a ‘toner tab’ before applying the mask (for 1.95) I was all about it!
This steamer tab is full of the best ingredients for toning troubled skin. Deep-cleansing tea tree oil keeps skin clean and clear, and aloe vera soothes the irritation often associated with blemishes. Dropped into a bowl of hot water, it gently dissolves, releasing the steam that’s great for opening up your pores and allowing all of the goodness from the mask to be absorbed.
TIP: Save the bowl of water after the tab has dissolved and use it to rinse your mask off… get your moneys worth 😉
It contains all of the most calming ingredients to soothe troubled skin. Rose absolute calms redness, tea tree oil cleanses and the lavender and chamomile oil blend makes skin and minds feel at peace.
TIP: Save the water after steaming (re-use an empty Toner bottle) to use as a toner for two days.
Now, my favorite part… MASKS!
Get remarkably radiant results with masks made with fresh fruit, vegetables, butters, clays and the world’s finest essential oils. Each ingredient is especially chosen for its beneficial effects on your skin and mind.
“This deep-cleansing face and body mask is made with China clay and fresh peppermint to reach deep down and pull dirt from your pores, giving you that delightful tingly-clean sensation. They add loads of aduki beans to exfoliate flaky or dry skin, vanilla absolute to calm redness and honey to soothe.”
Once again buying products for the name…
“Well hello, don’t be shy! Smooth on this vivid blue mask and you’ll want to show anyone and everyone your vibrant complexion. Ground rice gently scrubs away dry skin, murumuru butter moisturizes and zingy lemon juice tones. And if that wasn’t enough, they’ve added organic silken tofu to soften you up in all the right ways. The stunning results will have you coming back for more of this scrubby, softening skincare goodness.”
“Cupcake is the one fresh face mask that was created for a bit of fun. At the time, the inventor’s daughter was a young girl having slumber parties with her girlfriends every weekend, so he whipped up a chocolate mint mask for young, oily skin (officially solidifying him as the coolest dad ever). If you suffer from oily or spotty skin, slather it in this cocoa concoction. With spearmint oil to cool, vanilla absolute to calm redness and Rhassoul mud to deeply cleanse- Cupcake is a sweet savior for young faces. Smothering yourself in chocolate for clearer skin? Every teenage girl’s dream.”
“Prevent disasters by taking regular care of your skin with this deep-cleansing, nutrient-rich blueberry mask. The little blue bulbs are packed with vitamins, and blended into calamine, rose absolute and chamomile blue oil to soothe redness, irritation and cleanse the skin without stripping it of its natural oils. This one is wonderfully soothing on sensitive skin.”
“Sensitive, dry or irritated faces love Oatifix for its calming oats, softening mashed banana and ground almonds to slough away flaky skin. Keep in mind that dry skin doesn’t just occur in the winter! The sun can be equally harsh, as UV rays penetrate the dermis and heat can leave you feeling tight and dry. Use Oatifix year-round on sensitive, dry skin in need of nourishment to keep it flexible and soft.”
“A blend of exfoliating fair trade sugar and moisturizing jojoba oil, this lip scrub is sure to leave those kissers enticingly soft and satisfy your sweet tooth at the same time!” I brought this with me to a weekend wedding getaway with some girlfriends and they also gave it two thumbs up (you know, if you didn’t just want to take my word for it) 😉
Now hopping off the Lush train and onto the Sephora Train…
More masks! (Sorry not sorry about it)
I found these in that sneaky little aisle you wait in to check out, and boy am I glad I did. They’re just $8 for four pods. Activated charcoal acts like a magnet to draw out deep-dwelling pore-cloggers, white China clay absorbs environmental toxins, and lecithin dissolves impurities. * These are great for traveling, you can just pop one off and throw it in your bag and it takes up very little space!
Both of these were limited edition and no longer available online (insert hysterical crying emoji — I know, I’m sorry) so be sure to check your local Sephora!
And while you’re there I have a few more suggestions on what you should pick up 😉
Sometimes after a long day all you want to do is put on sweats and jump on the couch (you know you’ve been there). These help you get there faster. They take off the dirt and make-up and leave your skin feeling clean and soft… and let me just say, THESE. SMELL. SO. GOOD. (and don’t irritate my skin) What more could you ask for?!
We’re talking so much about taking makeup off and taking care of our skin, don’t think I forgot about the makeup we’re putting on!
Now, I must start this next fave with, “no foundation has yet to replace my holy grail MAC Studio Fix Fluid”…
Sephora says, “Achieve full-coverage, lightweight foundation that leaves a natural finish. Highly pigmented and perfectly balanced, this breakthrough, full-coverage formula builds and blends effortlessly. Its Even Tone Technology instantly neutralizes redness and dullness, while it works to reduce discoloration for more even, uniform skin. Perfect for all skin types, it features Weightless Long-wear Technology, an exclusive blend from NARS with flexible polymers and treated pigments that move with the skin while providing 16 hours of staying power.”
I agree with every bit of it… when they say lightweight they are not messing around, it literally feels like there’s nothing on your face. When I first put it on I was skeptical, considering it feels like nothing I assumed it, well, looked like nothing. Thankfully I was wrong because this is now one of my go-to foundations for daytime or low-key nights out. Two thumbs up.
I’m addicted to nude lips year round, but some in particular I like best for fall and winter. So, now that the colder weather has arrived I’ve started to pull them back out!
My go-to nude all summer was MAC’s Cherish. Half n Half is just a little bit darker but depending on your skin tone it makes a huge difference. For the price, you can’t beat lipsticks by MAC… they’ve always been my favorites.
If you’ve read any of my previous posts here on TSL, or even follow me on instagram, you know I just love being tan. If you don’t have a fabulous spray tan girl like I do in your area then I cannot say enough good things about St. Tropez
A super lightweight, easy-to-apply, velvety mousse that delivers the deepest, darkest, and most natural jet-set tan you’ve always wanted with just one application.
This mitt ensures an even, streak-free application of St. Tropez Mousse and Spray products and protects the palms from staining.
Self Tan Dark Bronzing Spray is created with the highest possible level of DHA that tailors to your individual skin tone to reveal your darkest, truest tan yet. The 360° technology delivers an instant dark bronzed finish and dries in 60 seconds.
Once your tan is looking fresh, you’ll need some ‘Fresh’ for your lips too 😉 Especially with the colder months ahead of us…
An ultra-nourishing formula housed in a sleek pot that smooths and softens lips while delivering a soft sheen and subtle sugar mint flavor.
Not into spending $30 on lip balm?… Okay, okay… how about a $10 option that smells just as (if not more) amazing?!
A hydrating and soothing lip balm with a blend of real peach extracts to help protect and plump the lips.
Another obsession I have from Tony Moly…
their Tangerine Hand Cream
Everything has the most amazingly adorable packaging and smells delicious! This cream features a formula that absorbs quickly while treating dry, rough hands and cuticles. The shea butter intensively moisturizes hands, while vitamin C and citrus fruit extracts brighten, lighten, and tighten the appearance of skin.
And now, last (but certainly) not least… after putting on makeup, blowdrying and styling my hair and finding an outfit, I hate to admit I am ‘one of those people’ who rarely wear jewelry. By the end of getting ready I either 1) just completely forget (oops!) or 2) run out of energy and keep in the same earrings I’ve had in for a week… ha! That being said there are many reasons why I am OBSESSING over these earrings —
Double-sided post earring features a cream crystal pearl on one side, and Topaz crystal pavé on the other with gold plating. Not only can I wear them as a pearl with a super gorgeous backing, I can also wear them as the crystal pavé with the pearl as the backing or without the pearl… Three earrings in one?! for $34?! Ahhh, yes please! I’m also learning they come in more colors… looks like I may be ordering more… Can you say christmas presents?! 😉
I hope you guys enjoy any and all of these products. Thank you for reading, and as always feel free to contact me with any questions!
