When I look at people’s rooms on Pinterest, two thoughts come to mind: “wow that is an amazing room; I wonder where they got X Y & Z from?” or “is their room actually that perfect?”. Of course the answer is no! Hi, my name is Zoë, and I have a messy room; there you go, I said it. It’s out in the universe, and there is nothing I can do about it except adapt and make improvements for change.
Now everyone has a different definition of mess, mine is that my clothes are all on one side of my bed and there is no clear surface on my cabinets. To be honest, most of my friends’ rooms are like that, except their clothes might be on the floor or chair, and there are those people who are an exception to the rule and have some sort of OCD so their room is immaculate. So I have a messy room and what?! Yes I am in my 20’s, and no I don’t see myself improving it in the next day or so. Perfection is boring, who wants to have a room that looks so neat and tidy you are afraid to mess it up again?
If you film in your room or are having it featured in some magazine then I get you want to make a good impression, but seriously there is no need to go overboard. When do you find the time? I am out meeting people, working, networking and living out my 20’s…maybe one day I might find a better system or bigger room to be a bit more user friendly to my bedroom, but right now don’t judge people cause their room is not up to your standards! I clean it thoroughly once a month and change my sheet regularly, I don’t eat in my room so there is no need to get worried about cleanliness.
After that rant, I want to say something to my fellow room criminals: your room is your room. If people judge you on how you keep your room, they don’t want to understand you as a person, only your surroundings, those people are not needed in your life…again the exemptions are family as we all know that there is at least one clean freak out of the lot. Seriously no one should care! IT’S YOUR ROOM!
Be gone judges.
