This past weekend I watched Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood, and along with worshiping the ground Maggie Smith walks on, I also bawled my eyes out for half the movie because it made me miss the South and my own (way more normal) mom.
Plus any movie where a daughter returns to the south from the big city – (see Sweet Home Alabama) – especially when it stars Sandra Bullock (see, Hope Floats) is going to get me every time. Yes, I cried through basically this whole film, but I still enjoyed the experience – sometimes you just have to have that good cathartic cry time. So, for your viewing pleasure, here are some suggestions for the next time you just need to have a good cry to yourself – whether it’s tears of joy or tears of “this is so real right now.”
For some reason I can get caught up watching surprise pregnancy announcements all day. Maybe it’s just how aggressively 90’s / early 2000’s the home movies look, but the emotion is always so real.
The Notebook – enough said, go ahead a have a good sob.
Get your jam on and your laughs on and have a nice single solitary tear roll down your cheek at the sweetness in this video.
Let the tears keep on rolling, and break out the tissues, because it’s so easy to get caught in an avalanche of soldiers surprising their kids videos.
Last but not least, a classic feel good cry – Rory’s valedictorian speech when she graduates from Chilton. All the feels.
