Tis the season for tons of parties and I know you’re invited to them all. It’s hard sometimes to figure out what exactly you should bring to these shindigs, now that we are all “real adults” and chances are someone is hosting you at their apartment. Have no fear – my holiday guest gift guide is here!
The Ugly Christmas Sweater Party
Chances are you’re definitely attending one of these this holiday season, and when trying to find a sweater that’s actually more “accidentally” adorable than ugly (because who wants to be stuck with something ugly in their closet?) you may overlook that idea that maybe you should bring a gift to this party. Honestly it’s best to go with a bottle of champagne or prosecco for this. It’s bubby, it’s sparkly, it’s holiday-esque and it’s alcoholic – everyone’s favorite combination.
The Girl’s Movie Night
Everyone has to get together and make some noms and drink wine and watch The Holiday and Love Actually with their girlfriends. It’s basically the rules of feminism. Your host will probably have some kind of dinner taken care of, so you might want to bring dessert. I reccommend fudge. Check out this article for some good suggestions! I just made number five and it was delicious! Plus only five ingredients – how hard can it be?
Your Work Lunch
My office and I know plenty others will either be having a company christmas party or a holiday lunch – or both depending on how excited your department is about the holidays. You’ll know beforehand if you’re expected to bring a gift – your contribution may just be a donation to a charity or helping out with the adopt-a-family project in your office. My office is also doing a white elephant exchange for our department. There will most likely be a price limit you will have to stay within. Make sure your gift is fairly unisex as well. I recommend Williams Sonoma Peppermint Bark. It comes in a variety of sizes and price points and will be a delicious treat for anyone who receives it!
Your Signficant Other’s Parents Party
If you’re invited to a party at your S.O.’s house you should definitely bring a gift – it doesn’t matter if you’ve known them a long time or are meeting them for the first time that night. Here’s some good news, the gift is the same no matter your relationship. Get on that scented candle grind! There are tons of holiday scents to choose from and a nice candle wont’ break the bank and is a thoughtful guesture.
