I absolutely love guacamole, so I decided to set out on a tasting search for the best one with the most flavor. Since today is Cinco de Mayo, I thought it would be the perfect time to share my best recipe for you all to make while you are sippin’ your margs and celebrating in style!
- 3 avocados, halved, seeded and peeled
- 1 lime, juiced
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon cayenne
- ½ medium red onion, diced
- ½-1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced (you can always add more, depends on how much spice you prefer. You can also keep the seeds, if you like a lot of heat.)
- 2 roma tomatoes, diced
- 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro
- 1 clove garlic, minced
Place the scooped avocado pulp and lime juice into a medium sized bowl. With a fork mash the avocado and lime juice. If you like your guac more chunky then don’t mash as much, but if you like it smooth then mash away! Add the salt, cumin and cayenne. Mash all ingredients together.
Fold in onions, jalapeno, tomatoes, cilantro and garlic.
Let stand at room temperature for one hour before serving….
Honestly, I often times can’t wait one whole hour. I usually dive into the guac immediately after I make it, but I did wait once and I noticed the guac was a tad more flavorful.
Happy Cinco de Mayo! Enjoy.
